With the blessing of God Almighty, the College of Law discussed on Thursday, September 19, 2024, a master's thesis in public law entitled
((The constitutional organization of the powers of the President of the Republic in the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 - a comparative study))
Submitted by the master's student, Ziad Ali Jassim. The President of the State is the symbol of the unity of the nation and the protector of its independence and territorial integrity, and takes into account the interests of the people, and enjoys supreme political authority in the state, provided that he works to overcome partisan competitions and works on social cohesion among the people's spectrums, and that the development in democratic systems and the transformation of countries from a monarchy to a republican system of government led to a difference in the powers granted to the President of the Republic and in accordance with the constitutional texts, and that the executive authority in Iraq, according to the 2005 Constitution, consists of two parties: the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers, and the President of the Republic was granted broad and influential powers, and that these broad powers reflected negatively on the President of the Republic, which subjected him to responsibility, and thus these powers were not immune from oversight, whether the oversight was political or judicial. The researcher presented an appendix of a proposed law to serve the subject of the thesis. The discussion committee consisted of:
Prof. Dr. Khaled Rashid Ali, Chairman
Assistant Professor Dr. Yamama Mohammed Hassan, Member
Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Fadhel Halwas, Member
Assistant Professor Dr. Akab Ahmed Mohammed, Member and Supervisor
After a thorough study of the thesis and the discussion committee hearing the student's defenses for his thesis, the committee decided to accept the thesis and grant the student a master's degree.
A thousand congratulations to the student and colleague for this effort he has made and may he soon receive a doctorate, God willing.
